Artist of the week: Matisse

So I've fallen behind on the updates for artists, here is a painting in which this blog derives it's name, Luxe, Calme et Volupte. Luxury, calm and voluptuous. The painting is one of the first that uses color in such a vibrant way, Matisse was on the forefront of the 20th century art revolution. The painting was tradition in its use of nudes at a luncheon, but experimental in its colored pointillism. Luxe is a very important painting to me, and the history of art.
